It's amazing what a weekend at the beach will do for your soul, let alone a weekend at the beach surrounded by a great group of friends. Not only were Naaman and I surrounded by a great group of people we were there to remember our dear ol' friend Charlie. Meeting Naaman in college was a blessing in it's self but meeting Naaman also meant becoming friends with his friends. Luckily his friends are some of the best guys I know, and we are so lucky to still have a strong friendship with them .
Charlie leaving us was is such a hard thing to deal with and understand, but the one good thing that came from this horrible accident is the boys have built an even stronger friendship. Naaman and I always say 'we owe it to Charlie to make memories with this group of friends because we still have the ability to do so!' Thats where 'Charlie's Weekend' comes into play. What a great way to create memories, giggle about old ones, start a great tradition that our kids will enjoy, and simply hang out with people who make you happy.
It was such a great weekend in so many ways! I can't even count the different ways we thought or talked about Charlie while we stayed at a house called Charlie's Place and how many new memories we made this weekend.
As I was kneeling down on one knee to take a beer bong I so wished Charlie would have been there! He was the only boy I could beat at beer bonging and I loved rubbing that in his face:) You could always find us in the kitchen together 'practicing' while no one was there!
Buying way to many lottery tickets
Acting like we were back in college playing kings cup and going turn for turn with the beer bong
Writing Charlie's Weekend 13' in the sand
Watching everyone play poker like they did for hours on end in college
Going to the Casino knowing that Charlie would have been there the whole trip
Cuddling and snuggling with Nolan Charlie
Stealing way too many belly rubs from Carlie
Realizing how much we have all grown up since college
Simply being grateful
So year one of Charlie's Weekend are in the books and next year is already being talked about!
