Yep its true, today we have officially been married for 1 month...man where did the time go? I still feel like it was just yesterday that we were getting ready to say I Do and dancing the night away with all of our closest friends and family. As we told each other happy 1 month anniversary this morning, we laughed at the thought that last time we had our one month milestone I was only 18 years old! Wanna talk about where did the time go....I can't believe it was all those years ago that I fell for this skater boy who rocked shoulder length hair and gave me butterflies every time I saw in the dorms.
Since being married the two questions I get all the time is
'So when are you going to have babies?' and
'Does it feel any different being married?' The first one is always easy..'
I've been ready to be a Mom for as long as I can remember, so when the time is right!' With a little '
soon I hope' add to the end. And the second question I have always answered
'well not really' Yes my name is in the process of changing, yes we are getting joint bank accounts, yes we are looking for a house, we are no longer titled Domestic Partners on his insurance and yes we are going to start a family soon but other then that everything has stayed the same
I love him unconditionally
He is my protector
I will do anything to put a smile on his face
I Still do all the laundry
He still kills all the spiders
We are a perfect pair
He still puts the toilet seat down
We value each other opinions
He always takes out the trash
We are a couple, but still function as individuals
We support one another's hobbies
I feel like I can talk to him about anything
We still love to cuddle
I still suck at having dinner ready when he gets home
I'm always the first to bed and last to wake up
And most importantly we respect each other
So if you ask me if it feels different being married and I say not really, It's just because how we were before being married is exactly how we are now. Somewhere between meeting him 9 years ago and today, we have figured out what works for us and what doesn't. I don't feel any more pressure being a wife, I don't feel that I gave away my individuality, I don't feel like I need to be the perfect wife and I don't feel like I need to give up my wants and desires. We still work as a team, walk side by side, lend each other a hand, say I love you, get mad at each other, have trouble understanding why we can't keep our house clean, and are each others biggest fan. So as we tuck one month under our belt, we are both so excited to keep our relationship where it's always been...an adventure, a work in progress, and never forgetting the obstacles and struggles we went through to get where we are.
